The MTL MTL5541 is a compact single-channel galvanic isolator within the MTL5500 DIN rail series, manufactured by Eaton MTL Instruments. It powers and repeats signals from 2-wire and 3-wire 4–20mA field transmitters installed in explosive hazardous zones, delivering isolated analog output to safe-side DCS, PLC and recording systems while supporting full bi-directional HART digital communication for smart transmitter configuration and diagnosticsEaton.
This unit provides complete galvanic isolation between hazardous field circuit, safe control circuit and 24V DC power supply to eliminate ground loop noise and transient cross-coupling. It supplies a stable 16.5V loop voltage to field transmitters at 20mA signal, with ultra-fast 50µs response time and high transfer accuracy. Fully certified Ex ia intrinsic safety allows direct installation in Zone 0 / Class I Div 1 hazardous locations, and assessed per IEC 61508 for SIL 2 safety instrumented system deployment. The slim 16mm narrow housing enables high-density cabinet stacking for multi-loop process measurement racks across oil & gas, chemical, pharmaceutical and wastewater facilities.
